The Board of Trustees of the German-American Hall of Fame (GAMHOF) mourns the passing of Dr. Ruth Westheimer, a cherished and valued inductee of GAMHOF.
Dr. Ruth Westheimer was born in Wiesenfeld, Germany in 1928. Her Orthodox Jewish parents arranged for her to escape to Switzerland in 1939 as part of a “Kindertransport” to get threatened children to safe havens during the Third Reich. Eventually she made her way to the United States and to New York, where she became a naturalized US citizen in 1965. Read more about her life on her inductee page
